Local 1-S At The RWDSU Convention in Atlanta
RWDSU Local 1-S attended the RWDSU Convention in Atalanta, Georgia, from March 1-3, 2018. Local 1-S representatives helped to craft resolutions that will guide the direction of the RWDSU over the next four years. We shared the story of our contract negotiations with Macy's, sharing how our local was able to achieve such a strong contract that sets an example for retail stores throughout the country. Local 1-S President Angella Harding was elected to the RWDSU Board, giving her a leadership position that will give 1-S a voice within the union.
Medical Enrollment
As a result of the 2016 contract negotiations significant improvements were made to the medical options offered to all eligible local 1-S members.

VIDEO: Local 1-S Officers Take The Oath Of Office
RWDSU Local 1-S officers took the oath of office today at the RWDSU National Office headquarters in New York City. RWDSU President Stuart Appelbaum swore in Angella Harding as President and Ron Chencinski as Secretary-Treasurer. Also sworn in were Vice Presidents Mike Jones, Curtis West, Sherry Hamilton-Elder, as well as Felix Ocasio as Recorder.

Women's Wear Daily: Union Takes a Stand at Macy’s Herald Square

NEW YORK — Union leaders and labor groups from as far as Alabama on Thursday joined Local 1S of the Retail Wholesale and Department Store Union at Macy’s Herald Square flagship for a rally in support of wage increases and affordable benefits for the 5,000 workers covered by the three-year contract, which expired on May 1. Since the expiration date, bargaining has continued as part of a 45-day extension period.
