Macy's workers vote to authorize strike

Last week, nearly 5,000 RWDSU Local 1-S members at four Macy’s stores in the New York City area voted to authorize a strike if a fair contract isn’t negotiated by June 15. The vote was held last night, the day before Macy’s annual shareholder’s meeting, and reinforces members’ refusal to accept the unfair demands management are currently making. Continue reading

Rally for a Fair Contract!

RWDSU Local 1-S is holding a rally for a fair contract in Herald Square on Thursday, June 2nd from 11:30am to 2:00pm. Come out and show your union pride!

Local 1-S Member Addresses White House Summit

RWDSU Local 1-S member and Macy’s employee Kay Thompson addressed the White House Summit on Working Families in Washington D.C. in June. The summit was a forum created by the White House to examine work-life balance and policies that further workers’ stability and economic security. President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, and Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill attended and addressed the forum.   Continue reading
